Abstract

The present study examined the influence of emotional regulation and workplace spirituality on burnout among employees in Lagos Metropolis. The sample consisted of 270 participants, including 155 males and 115 females, drawn from various organizational settings. The study aimed to explore how individual emotional management and spiritual connection within the workplace contribute to employees’ experiences of burnout. Findings revealed a significant negative relationship between emotional regulation and burnout, indicating that employees who effectively regulate their emotions experience lower levels of burnout. Similarly, workplace spirituality demonstrated a significant negative association with burnout, suggesting that a spiritually supportive work environment reduces emotional exhaustion and detachment. Moreover, the overall model was statistically significant, revealing that emotional regulation and workplace spirituality jointly predicted burnout among employees. The predictors collectively accounted for approximately one-third of the variance in burnout levels, highlighting their substantial impact on employee wellbeing. These findings underscore the importance of fostering emotional intelligence and spiritual engagement within organizational settings to enhance resilience and reduce burnout among employees.
