The study investigated the health risk associated with heavy metals in dumpsites in selected locations in Ondo city, Ondo State, Nigeria. Soil samples were obtained from four selected locations namely Iyanaepe, Ileoluji road, Laje road and Barracks road. The samples were digested using the mixture of aqua regia HNO3 and HCl(3:1) and analyzed for heavy metals using atomic absorption spectrophotometer AAS, BUCK scientific. Data analysis was done by ANOVA and t-test. The heavy metal concentration obtained in this research work were modelled for hazard index (HI) and cumulative incremental lifetime cancer risk (CILCR) via three exposure pathways (ingestion, dermal contact and inhalation). The mean hazard index was found to be 0.001715, 247.18, 1.4224, 3189.56, 9803.57, 0.5234, 0.3156 and 2.8208 for Fe, Cr, Cu, Cd, Mn, Ni, Zn and Pb (mg/kg/day) respectively. In order of magnitude Mn>Cd>Cr>Pb>Cu>Zn>Ni>fe While that of the control sites was 0.0169, 264.98, 2051.72, 0.4514 and 0.0235 for Fe, Cr, Mn, Ni and Zn (mg/kg/day) respectively. In order of magnitude Mn>Cr>Ni>Fe>Zn. Mn, Cd, Cr have hazard index remarkably greater than the threshold limit followed by Pb on the dumpsites. The mean CILCR value of Cr and Cd was beyond the threshold limit of 10-6-10-4. The mean CILCR value for Cr, Ni, Cd and Pb and the total hazard index (THI) on the dumpsites and control sites showed that the dumpsites pose greater health risk than the control sites.
